The Nigeria Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), East Central Chapter (ECC), has continued to deepen industry collaboration as part of preparations for the upcoming Regional Food Science and Technology Summit (ReFoSTS) 2026.
A delegation led by the Chapter Chairman, Apst. Peter Agbata, alongside the ReFoSTS Sub-Committee Chairperson on Advocacy, Dr. Comfort Nwagbo, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive Officer of Blisco Foods and Beverages Industries, Mr. John Chidi Eleodimuo, at the company’s factory office in Nnewi.
During the visit, the team expressed appreciation to Mr. Eleodimuo for his consistent support to the Institute and the East Central Chapter. In furtherance of this collaboration, the delegation formally presented him with an invitation to serve as a Guest Lecturer at the forthcoming ReFoSTS scheduled to hold at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, on the 4th and 5th of June, 2026.
In his response, Mr. Eleodimuo warmly accepted the invitation and reiterated his commitment to supporting the summit and the broader objectives of the Institute. He further expressed his intention to extend his support to academia by offering recognition and encouragement to outstanding students. Specifically, he announced plans to support the best graduating students of Food Science and Technology from six tertiary institutions within the Chapter during their induction ceremony.
The visit also featured a guided tour of the company’s production facility, where the delegation was taken through various operational processes, providing valuable industry insights and reinforcing the importance of academia-industry synergy.
Speaking at the end of the visit, the Chapter Chairman commended Mr. Eleodimuo for his visionary leadership and unwavering support towards the development of Food Science and Technology in the region.
The engagement underscores NIFST ECC’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that will enhance professional development, promote innovation, and strengthen the food industry value chain in Nigeria.
